Kasparov is the greatest of all time. To maintain a clear edge over the best for so long in a time when chess theory has been so thoroughly explored suggests super-genius and freakish talent. Since Morphy's time had such a lack of chess knowledge, any talented person who developed an understanding of principles would clean up, so comparison is impossible. If Fischer kept playing and remained mentally stable, who knows? The vast majority of Chess experts say Kasparov is the greatest of all time.

I am one of the best chess players that ever lived on this planet.I lost only once in my whole life when I was six...to my father.I have never played against any machine and I guess that's a natural step in the evolution of the game for me.

bobby fischer is the best.he refuse the game against karpov because he was crazy and scared that the russian were going to kidnap him. he did faces spasky again and won. the players listed are great but watching bobby fischer I would have to say he is the best.I am not american so i don't think he is the best because he is american.

Lol the beating? he won 1 world championship against Spassky and ONLY because spassky was a gentlemen, he could have claimed victory early on. -AMERICAN

He can say it because fischer refused to play him for the world championship, an act that seems to reflect the underlying emotion of fear.

Pillsbury is the best. he wouldve crushed lasker in a match

well realistically there's no solid evidence for either side of the arguement

Before you read my comment, read first the comment before me!YOU MORON YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYING,HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT FISCHER IS AFRAID OF KARPOV DAMN YOU RUDYTHEOPHIN2789! JUST LOOK AT THE GAMES OF FISCHER HOW HE BEATED RUSSIAN WORLD CHAMPIONS LIKE PETROSIAN AND SPASSKY HE DIDN'T EVEN GAVE A SINGLE SCORE TO TAIMANOV AND THE DANE LARSEN A BRILLIANT PLAYERS. AND "Bobby Fischer's IQ between 180 and 187." AN AVERAGE IQ OF A GENIUS AND WHAT'S KARPOV'S IQ? WELL NEVERMIND. THINK TWICE
