It's, like any business, all about the money generated. The only reason why "art music" like classical and jazz survive is because of donations and the charity toward its practitioners. I believe metal is art music in many ways. But because it has a "popular" element to it, it is deemed inferior by critics. It's just ludacris. Guys like this flock of seagulls dude as well as many other truly gifted playes get screwed in the process. The audience just doesn't have the money to support it.

Thats the thing this is the LAB in Seattle, THERE IS NO MOSHING ITS A RULE !!! PLUS, i bet that most of the people there were sitting in the seats they got cause thats WAY more comfortable. And if you can't mosh to something this awesome and technical you might as well just watch and listen to the amazing skill

That's the business. Especially nowadays where notalents can create an entire album on a keyboard. It's a shame. It's not good enough to be an innovative talent anymore. One has to have a gimmick, an image or both. Keep that in mind all you bedroom shredders. Even if you're as sick as MAB or Vai. If you don't promote your shit right, you may never get the recognition you deserve. Origainals are key, not covers. Labels want songwriting. Youtube's cool. But even this is not enough exposure
