You're making an unhelpful distinction between "a positive outlook" and "cheerfulness and empathy" for the sake of yours.

That's not what optimism is. Optimism is a positive outlook.You're complicating what it means to help for that sake of your own argument. Obviously, the video is talking about helping in terms of philanthropic altruism.

That's great, so how would you rate this comment on the scale of human decency?:"Helping in anyway is positive, fool".I'm not talking about helping, I'm talking about optimism, cheerfulness and empathy combined, being helpful does not necessarily make a person particularly optimistic, you can be helpful out of ethics, not optimism or positivity.

Hey there Mr Critic... my "understanding of optimism" is not flawed, I wasn't offering it up for votes, it is simply my view of optimism, if yours is different, so be it.I work in sales, an industry that excels in fostering optimism and if you think this guy's an optimist... compared to me, you're depressed!

You have a flawed understanding of optimism. A person doesn't need to be enthusiastic or outwardly display happiness to be optimistic. Your judgment of him as not optimistic is unwarranted. There is more evidence in his humor and his willingness to do such talks to convince he is optimistic. |
