Agree, this is not spam!@zaooza1973: i know that my answer is in late, but i'd like to write something. I'm an experienced linux user and i can say to you that whatever Desktop you'll use, you need few days to understand its power. Maybe that a Windows users prefers KDE 'cause on first login it seems to be very similar to windows. However.. it seems to be, but it's not really similar. So, yes. The best answer to your question is: try both.However start with KDE and later try GNOME!Gnome Rulez!

Why was this marked as spam? This isn't really the best place to ask this kind of question, but its not spam. Anyway, I have a strong preference for kde but I think maybe because of its usuability flaws, you might be better off with gnome. Also the support is better; if you use kde 4 you'll get a lot of f***ing jerks trying to piss you off on irc...(sorry, bad experence the other day). But really, go for gnome for now; but if you have the chance, look at KDE (theres no reason why you can't)

I need help. I was Win user for 15(!) years, but yesterday i tried OpenSUSE on my laptop (ASUS z99h), so during the installation i got a problem - what to choose Gnome or KDE4? I surfed lots of websites and the best answer was - try both. I don't want to do it. And i'd like to ask you - what is more comfortable for experienced win user? I'm not going to be a developer i just want to run openoffice, firefox, jabber, video & music. What variant is better for me - KDE4 or Gnome. thx
