I love how they always trot out the Alaska Natives who give the verrrry soulful sound bites about how they "revere the land and the wildlife". Then the natives turn around and slaughter hundreds of caribou up near Point Hope (and refuse to cooperate in the investigation into who did it...they left dozens of dead and wounded animals to rot on the tundra) or they go out and shoot a few more nearly-extinct whales. Yeah, they were sooo impacted by the Exxon Valdez. Give me a break.

Many of the plaintiffs - probably most - were awarded damage based solely on their status. So, if you own land bordering Prince William Sound, you get an automatic share of the money. Doesn't matter if no oil ever touched your land, or if you even suffered a penny in losses, you get a share of the settlement. People are confusing the environmental damage, for which Exxon paid massive fines, with a private sector lawsuit in which only a small percentage of plaintiffs suffered damage.

Whining. You mean that which you are doing right now?

More plaintiffs than even live in PWS? Excellent. As there should be. Your little oil spill had much farther economic impact than just the local residents of PWS. Any moron would know that. Is that what you take the people of the world for? Morons? |
