I've always thought the beauty of this song was that it's more about the brotherhood between soldiers fighting than anything else. Written and performed in the 80's the song was written for the veterans who were being neglected and still branded as killers by some Americans. The chorus makes me think of a reunion of soldiers reminiscing about brothers lost in battle and the camaraderie developed during the conflict. A very powerful song, and that's my 2 cents for what it's worth.

The Vietnam war so was unpopular in the US that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans could continue it. That being so it would have allowed communism to spread if other countries had embraced it. To say the Vietnam war was worth something is questionable.

Actually, the Vietnam war played a crucial part in detering other would-be "communist" countries from spreading their doctrine with violence, seeing how much it cost the north-vietnamese even considering a disillusioned civil population in the western world... Things might have looked ALOT worse had we not had the Vietnam war.

as he sings, so who was wrong or right? i just hope that enough people have the balls to change the world before ...we will all go down together. i lost 2 close family members in war, should i hate the ones who killed them, this is beyon nam.
