http://www.ted.com Clifford Stoll could talk about the atmosphere of Jupiter. Or hunting KGB hackers. Or Klein bottles, computers in classrooms, the future. But he's not going to. Which is fine, because it would be criminal to confine a man with interests as multifarious as Stoll's to give a talk on any one topic. Instead, he simply captivates his audience with a wildly energetic sprinkling of anecdotes, observations, asides -- and even a science experiment. After all, by his own definition, he's a scientist: "Once I do something, I want to do something else."

This guy is an idiot. His contrived whacky character is pathetic.

Lifetime of work and learning in a childish and funny character. Genius.

It's embarrassing to watch adults replace God with themselves. They have to believe in something so they start seeing themselves as divine. Everything is an excuse to show out and they are led entirely by their emotions.

FYI (FWIW), all humans are led by emotion. However, I will not delve into the philosophical musings of that notion with a complete stranger that has given off the impression (to me, at least) that his rationale is guided by his biases.

How do you know, without a shadow of a doubt (100% certainty) that they are, in fact, as you say, "worshiping themselves." How is this embarrassing to you? Are you a scientist in the same field that is blushing by his eccentricity? Don't you see? It really does not matter in the end. Let him have his fun. If it really is hurting anyone, it's hurting only himself.

These people are immature, all they're doing is stroking their own egos and trying to show off. It's embarrassing. And liberals are led completely by emotion, too. They feel like they're being so good, they worship themselves.

Yes, because looking and sounding "utterly stupid" according to your broad mind and view of the world makes this person utterly stupid.
