okay think of it like this..for 2's "2,4,6,8" and for 8's "8,16,24,32"..what will 2 and 8 LEAST go into each other..so if 2 goes into 8 four times (2x4) and of course 8 goes into 8 one times (8x1)..that's the least common denominator for these numbers 2 and 8..after that, all you do is..you know 2x4=8 right? so simply multiply the numerator 1 by 4 (4x1) which is four, and now it should be 4/8..next on 3/8 8x1=8 right?..so now multiply 3x1=3..then it's 3/8..now just add 4/8 + 3/8 = [7/8]<- answer
