Actually they repealed the amendment, they did not pass another amendment. Also, it doesn't matter if the people voted the gov. it still what makes it a law, it still broke the 14th amendment. Plus, they probably did vote, but they are a minority, so it did not make the difference, obviously.

This woman is totally retarded. You dont go into the middle of a protest where people are obviosly angry and attempt to preach to them they are wrong holding a symbol that has commonly been used against them. Its like a black person crashing a kkk meating holding a peace sign its just stupid and asking for trouble, and i honestly believe this was exactly what she wanted to happen

I could not even tell you were being sarcastic. Good for you.
GabrielKoulikov (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
That depends. Are you really not able to interpret sarcasm?
I was playing off of the oft cited plea that the homosexuals are the ones being "persecuted, victimized, tolerant, civil," etc., when all evidence is to the contrary. As this video plainly shows this, I made a comment made to be interpreted as humorous sarcasm by stating the opposite.
...get it? Because they're not really the victims, but the victimizers, as this video clearly shows? =sarcasm?
Maybe my humor is too subtle.

Remember when there was an amendment to ban alcohol and then later on they made an amendment that nullified. So if they want gay marriage in California they would have to nullify that. Right now the people have spoken. People voted it in not the government. The gays should focus on going to the polls and not complaining about it out on the streets. If they would have all went to vote it may have turned out differently would it not?
acordian (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
That would have been fine, if the state had not already given gays the right to marry. Now that they have they CANNOT take it away with out due process as stated in the 14th amendment.

Bill Clinton signed 1996-09-21 - Defense of Marriage Act, allowed states to refuse recognition of certain same-sex marriages, and defined marriage as between a male and female for purposes of federal law

Wow are you really that dumb.
GabrielKoulikov (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Finally! Proof that the homosexuals really ARE the victims of abuse, intimidation and censorship.

The whole basis of the gay rights lobby is simple:
A civil right,by definition,is a right which belongs to a person by virtue of the fact that he or she is a citizen.
Gays don't want rights based on thier sexuality.
Gays seek equality of rights based on the fact that they are citizens. |
