why do you want to rape someone? lolthink of these as God's version of child benefits and legal compensation. A husband and or father at that time would have had to provide for and look after his wife and/or children. So God was looking out for the poor rape victim.

it was quite normal at that time it was a common practice, people in those days did things according to their capacities, and you cannot judge 1450-years-old marriage-standards with what we have made today. Further more, you dont even find any enemies of Prophet has criticized about prophet marriage in those days, if the girl had been 9 years old, regardless she was 19 when the marriage was consummated.
