And what's with the stupid comment of "liberals are rich socialists"? If you are truly socialist how can you be rich? lol.Besides, isn't it the Republicans who nationalized their banks, who are interfering in the free market by giving money to corporations whenever they run out of it, wanting to give money to people who had bad loans on their mortgages. This is the true definition of "socialism"....the state running businesses. It's obvious the American system does not work.

Reagan changed Conservatism to what we know it is today. Prior to his rise to power, Conservatism meant exactly that...to conserve. President Eisenhower was a Conservative but deplored any foreign occupation in other people's country, a strong economy based on balanced budgets, and so on. The true meaning of Conservative has been lost with Reagan and Bush. There is now a backlash this "new right-wing" conservatism. Why? Because it's self-serving and it simply is not good for the country.

The Republicans are notorious for creating stagflation in our economy. That is to say, that normally inflation will go down when unemployment goes up. And yet, stagflation maintains a high rate of inflation, while unemployment and other economic factors are unfavorable. This was a trademark with Reagan, unfortunatly. I'm not calling Reagan a "commie", just not a good President.

Right on volcombillx3. It's just a shame that Americans have this history of having a Democrat in for a couple of terms to clean up a Republican mess, and then have another Republican mess it up again and again. It's like a mad roller coaster.

Shit Eisenhower was president within the past 60 years.

I would like to know why you think that honestly. I would also like to know how you could possibly rank him above LBJ or Kennedy.

You forgott the quadrupling of the national debt in the name of fiscal conservatism, the regressive taxcode precident he set, the Iran Contra scandal where he funded terrorists, how he made it okay to go against Unions, making being "folxy" popular, turning the GOP into an elitist party of conservitivism that can't balance a budget, the failure of implementing the war on drugs, a poor imigration policy, and the time ol' Government is our problem.Na, I liked him on TV. He had to be good.

are you kidding, he was the best president we had in the past 60 years

On Reagan, he was a patriotic American, but he wasn't a very good President. Besides what everyone else pointed out, he was also responsible for creating the oil embargo back then, and most all of us hurt from that one, too. Take a Macroeconomics class sometime, and see for yourself. He was one of the first to make unemployment and inflation skyrocket! Usually, these two economic factors are inversely correlated. Think about the Star Wars program, too.

Sorry carnage - Republicans back up the rich snobs. I agree that the Democrats have become too liberal, but the Republicans have never changed with supporting corrupt big business like oil and pharmaceutical companies. And ajjmacnab is right on with Republicans being warlords, while trying to snow idiots here into believing that we can do it for free. When they don't raise taxes, they kill us on budget deficits. They can't possibly cut enough programs to pay for it - LOL! |
