I met him many years ago; actually around the time "Last Tango" was released. He was very gentlemanly.

Wow, if you find jazz rather predictable and that most saxes sound alike, you're not listening to the right jazz or very good sax players.

I find that he is quite imaginative- being a strong figurehead in a genre such as jazz, which has the tendency to be rather predictable. Until you count that few that stick out. Gato sticks out, I can't differentiate most sax players with one another. Gato is indisputably the only one that produces that sound.
