Yes you're right. It was indeed Diane Carroll ... and it played at the North York Centre for the performing Arts ... way up on Yonge Street! It was years ago!!!Thanks for the name ... the moment I read your reply i knew you were right.

During the inital run Toronto it was Dahanne Carroll from Dynasty who played the role of Norma Desmond.

I saw this show in Toronto, ON. Though her name escapes me at the moment, the actress who played Norma Desmond was actually black. She was really good ... anyone recall who I am talking about?

i see the musical sunset boulevard in germany in 1996 at rhein-main theatre niedernhausen, but i must say helen schneider was better than glenn close !

I have watched this time after time over the months and I always find it absolutely entrancing. I refuse to be drawn into the petty who-is-better arguments. They all shine. Glenn Close's performance is sheer brilliance

It does sound like that, actually. While I usually think that ALW's work is just unoriginal, repetitive rubbish, Glenn Close makes Sunset Boulevard a masterpiece. I like probably 3 of the songs in here and the rest are pretty ridiculous, but Ms. Close's talent compensates for it.

blaaaaaaah blaaaah blaaaaah about the voice!glenn sings it as is should be, an actress!emotions lye in the chest voice, and she doesnt mix it on purposse.(i think!)love it or leave it, but don't judge a talent on it's powers...

Does anybody know when they're going to make the Sunset Boulevard movie?
