I wish he could talk more about the role of the neuronal system than about symbols, for that sort of explanations we already have more talented anthropologist, so he should focus more on neuro cognition.

But he says that many times that these are hypothesis and we can go check and if they are wrong or as he says "Ramachandran you are full of it!" we can reevaluate them and correct them to fix anomalies. His larger point being can art be understood as having some neuroscientific and neuro anatomical (maybe evolutionary reason in some case) component to it or may be completely understood in that term. And I think these hypothesis give a starting point to begin the discussion and experiments.

Well, this series started good. But then he started coming out with a lot of theories on art, which are pretty unfounded as far as I can see.Not saying that he's wrong. Just that he hasn't given much evidence. Not enough evidence to convince me anyway. |
