Except Buddy played more than one genre of rock and roll. Saw Bo open for Petty at the Fillmore a few years back and it was 45 minutes of the Bo Dilly beat, good for Bo not so great for the advancement of rock. Buddy was able to incorporate Country, Rock and Ballads. Bo don't know ballads...

Buddy was just a sad imitation of Bo Diddley. If you want to see the pioneer of Rock and Roll put Bo Diddley in the search

There is a lot of great music from the 50s, much of it from black artists, but I cant help but wonder if this skinny white Texan, playing very aggressive music, must have been shocking to parts of middle class America. What an incredible legacy he left after only a few years acts like the Beatles to Nirvana/Blink 182 are all cut from the same cloth.

This is from Am. Bandstand? Where's Dick Clark. Are you sure this is'nt "Your Hit Parade". The day the music died Feb. 1959.

That's a real milestone- Think of what he could've done with 'Giant Steps' if he'd lived to hear it...

March 28, 1958: Buddy Holly performs at Brooklyns Paramount Theater as part of a bill that includes Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers. It is the kickoff date for a two-month tour billed as Alan Freeds Big Beat Show.
