Okay. Thanks for the clarification. I'm just saying what my friend was told. No offense to anyone...at all.

Foreverphantoms, the reason for the Canopy (chuppah) is that it represents the home the couple will build together, it is open on all four sides to symbolise that the house should be open to guests, as hospitality is a very important component in every Jewish home. Your information about family and friends pointing things out, is totally wrong. And "sheets" being displayed on the canopy is also not correct. The couple consummate their marriage in private, after the wedding not during.

My friend just got back from Israel and found out about the canopy. In Jewish customs, the newly weds would sleep together under the canopy while family and friends would come in and give pointers. Once the "v" wall was broken, they would place the sheet of the bed ontop of the canopy for the wedding guests to see.

Dear yoksh77: Thanks for the post - an absolutely mystifying song, beautiful to the core. I have attached my video of a beautiful Hawaiian song that is also magical. I hope you enjoy it. Mahalo, Johnny Pal

Definitely one of the most beautifully-duplicated ceremonies of holy matrimony in the ritual of the true jewish faith of so many years ago. Do they ever make it so seriously appropriate and full of God anymore ? This was one of Hollywoods best captures of tradition . . .
