Ice ages occur because the earth has an elliptical orbit.Sure, the theory goes that global warming melts the polar ice caps, which makes the the sea empty cold water into the gulf stream which in turn reduces the temperature of the entire planet.Whether that can trigger an ice age has yet to be determined.Regardless, human action can not trigger or speed up a real ice age because the earths orbit occurs in time and space.We can not speed up the earth's orbit no matter how hard we try.
