Ab concert = Bb for the tenor player not C. It's not the worst key to play in but rhythm changes is most commonly played in Bb concert so it is impressive how fluent he is in Ab.

Question for any tenor player: Which F sharp do you use on descending or ascending chromatic lines ? side or middle, just curious. lately my ring finger freezes up when i try to use the middle f sharp on ascending chromatic lines.

I don't know man.. I think Eddie Harris is too underrated.. Which happens when people only pick up on his smooth laid back funk made popular during time spent with Les McCann and with his funk groups. In your lifetime you should find his fast stuff where you can't believe he is able to accomplish that with his hands and mouth. If he could play live for you I think you would agree.

Joshua is just as good as eddie Harris... Tooo different schools of improvisation..... They can show each other stuff Both Great Player

I agree I was just saying to ccpwrestling that he is one of the greats on the instrument and jazz scene. Up there with redman.

completely wrong. If you are going to compare Joshua Redman to someone before him you could name many of the greats whom he was influenced by (Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Wayne Shorter). Those are the people that Redman can be compared to because you can hear all of their playing in what he does. Eddie Harris is a good player, but we are talking about the best of the best here. In that sense, Eddie Harris does NOT compare at all.

ARE YOU SERIOUS.... Eddie Harris is one of the greats way before Redman. I love them both, but Eddie Harris does compare to redman.

no matter what key you're in rhythm changes isn't easy, especially at the speed they take it, each chorde has about 2 seconds to lead to the next chord in a I VI II V pattern
